One of my favorite ways to spend a little free time is to wander through a church rummage sale or an estate sale and see what has been lovingly kept, collected or tucked away. Around Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, the weekend of November 6–8 brings several opportunities to do just that.
Here is a practical roundup for anyone who enjoys vintage finds, home goods, holiday decorations, useful everyday pieces or simply the pleasure of looking. I have separated confirmed listings from details that may still change. Please check each organizer’s original listing before you head out.

A nearby auction to browse from home
Burlington liquidation auction
For those who prefer to study photos and bid from the sofa, Northern Kentucky Auction is running a large Burlington online liquidation with contents from a house, garage and barn. The auction is listed as ending Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m., with an in-person preview planned Wednesday, November 11 from 3–6 p.m. at 3966 Petersburg Road, Burlington, KY. How I like to treasure hunt without bringing home clutter
It is easy to get carried away by a low price. I try to think about where an item will live, whether it needs repairs, and whether I would still want it if it were not such a bargain. Old wooden pieces, handmade textiles, baskets, crocks and sturdy housewares can be wonderful finds, but only if there is room and a purpose for them.
For resale purchases, remember to check condition carefully. Chips, missing parts, odors and difficult cleaning jobs can turn a good-looking price into a project. For furniture, bring a tape measure. For delicate pieces, bring wrapping materials. And for larger purchases, be sure you have a safe way to move them.
One little habit makes a difference: I take a quick look around my home before heading out. Sometimes I realize I already have the very thing I was planning to search for! That is the heart of shop your home first, even when you love a good secondhand adventure.
